Euforia Dewa United Juara IBL 2025: Belum Puas Hanya Sekali Juara, Ambisi Back to Back Musim Depan

Dewa United Banten has etched its name in the annals of Indonesian basketball history. On a memorable Sunday, July 20, 2025, the squad, masterfully guided by Pablo Favarel, clinched their inaugural Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) title.

In a thrilling best-of-three final series, Dewa United overcame the defending champions, Pelita Jaya, with a 2-1 victory. This monumental achievement marks their first championship since joining the IBL in 2020.

The road to victory was fraught with challenges. In the opening game, played on their home turf, Lester Prosper and his teammates suffered a significant defeat, losing 77-94 to Pelita Jaya. This setback initially cast doubt on Dewa United's chances.

However, demonstrating resilience and determination, Dewa United retaliated in the second game held at GMSB Kuningan, Jakarta Selatan. Through disciplined gameplay, they defeated Pelita Jaya with a score of 80-75, forcing a decisive third game.

A Comeback for the Ages

The climax unfolded in a dramatic game three at GMSB Kuningan. Trailing by 12 points early in the fourth quarter, Dewa United staged an extraordinary comeback, ultimately securing a narrow 74-73 victory. This win not only ended Pelita Jaya's reign but also propelled Dewa United to the pinnacle of success.

Michael Oliver Wellerz (Michael Ow), President of Dewa United Basketball Club, expressed his profound emotion, emphasizing the players' unwavering belief in the organization as the cornerstone of their triumph.

Ambitions Beyond the Championship

Michael Ow, along with owner Tommy Hermawan Lo and DPRD DKI Jakarta member Hardiyanto Kenneth, watched the final game. Overcome with emotion at the final buzzer, Michael affirmed that this title is not the culmination but a stepping stone.

Dewa United has set an ambitious goal to defend their title next season, with bonuses already earmarked for the players who made history. "Target ke depan? Back to back," declared Michael Ow. "Kami ingin melakukannya, ingin banget."

Coach Pablo Favarel lauded the club's management for their astute recruitment of players with a winning mentality. He specifically highlighted the contributions of players like Kaleb Ramot, Arki Dikania Wisnu, and Hardianus Lakudu, whose experience and leadership were instrumental throughout the season.

According to Pablo, the team embodies the spirit of champions and that spirit led them to the championship.
